First Day of Class, Tate Modern, Brick Lane Indian Food

Classroom panoramic
Do you think this might be a Computer Science study abroad?

Hello again! I had my first class today. After a quick breakfast of Crunchy Nut Clusters from Sainesbury, we walked from our flat to the University of Delaware's London Centre. We met Lizzie, Delaware's coordinator in London. Lizzie told us that the building, which is right next to the Dickens museum, is 204 years old. It's four stories tall and our classroom, pictured above, is in the attic where the servants lived. We installed some software which was time consuming over the Centre's wireless. We won't have class again until Thursday.

The Tate is cavernous.

After class, I headed down to the Tate Modern with Chip and Zak. I saw Picassos and some Pollocks. They had a pay-to-see exhibit on street art that I'm going to go back for later on. The Tate is actually an old power plant. The galleries are held in the smaller section of the museum and an unbelievably large portion of the Tate is left open.

Someone trying to get into the Tate?

At the Tate we met up with Eric, Haley, and Mia. Together, the six of us took the tube to Liverpool Street and walked to Brick Lane, the Indian food capitol in London. As soon as our large group arrived, men began walking up to us and offering deals. "You looking for a good place to eat? I'll give you 20% off," pitched one. The restaurant we picked gave us 20% off our meal but also threw in our first drink free.

A Glimpse of the Gherkin
One last photo: A Glimpse of the Gherkin.

I saw this on my way home from dinner. I don't know much about it, but I'd like to get closer to get some better pictures. Londoners don't really appreciate people stopping to take pictures of things they find ordinary so I felt uncomfortable stopping to take a good shot.

I'm back at the flat now and I'm resting my tired feet for another long day of walking. Cheerio!
